So I bought a roll of stupidly expensive DEI gold heat reflector tape and went a little crazy in the MR2 engine bay....
Both intercooler pipes, the main intake pipe between the AFM and the throttle body, and the flat sides of the intercooler were all wrapped.
As was this guy. This is the stock water-to-oil oil cooler/warmer. Basically, on a cold start, coolant temp rises faster than oil, so this helps bring the oil up to operating temp faster. However, coolant operating temp is around 190F - 210F whereas oil is quite a bit higher than that, so it also acts as an oil cooler.
It also sits like 3" from the exhaust manifold (which I've replaced with a 20valve 4A-GE tubular steel piece, and header wrapped that) so I figured it could use some heat shielding too.
I also plan on putting it on the distributor heat shield as well, but I ran out of time tonight. Not sure what else to do with it, but I'm sure I'll find something.

Mind me asking how much this cost you? I would like to do something similar as well without wrapping the headers.
